Previous Research
In addition to my interest in science education I do have expertise in insect systematics in particular ants. Moreover, my research interests include addressing questions related to the evolutionary patterns of morphology and behavior, as well as community dynamics of ants coupled with insect faunistics. I have continued my research while having a high teaching load by using systematics as a tool to introduce students to the process of scientific inquiry (as such research avenues are easily incorporated into student research projects). I have mentored over 14 undergraduate and graduate students; a number of which have presented at national meetings and/or published their research.
